How To Make a Bargello Balloon Workshop

NMQA's first Workshop in 2022 will be held following the January Membership Meeting.  There will be a $5.00 class fee to cover the cost of the fabric.  If you return the completed balloon to the committee for use with the crafts, the $5.00 will be returned.

Bring your own lunch and eat while you listen to a short presentation on making bargello, appliqué and special shapes balloons for our 2023 Balloon Quilt and other crafts.  After the presentation, you will learn the techniques for making bargello balloons, such as the one pictured below.


WHAT TO BRING:

  • Sewing Machine and whatever accessories you use for piecing
  • Cutting tools for fabric and a small cutting mat  (A large mat will be available at the class.)
  • Scissors for cutting paper
  • 'Add-a-quarter' ruler if you have one, if not, a small square ruler will work
  • Wooden or other type of hand pressing tool
  • A piece of scrap batting, flannel, felt or a bath towel - approximately 2-foot x 2-foot or larger
  • Sharpie Marker – fine tip 
  • Elmer’s Glue 
  • Sewing Thread - neutral colors for piecing
  • Task lighting - if you have a portable one, such as an Ott Light
